For a long time, I have had the strong belief that the people of Israel, Elijah at the Seder has received some wonderful responses:
and the Jewish people in general, lacked the important vision of their
God-given inheritance, the eternal promise given to Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob of the Land of Israel.
The vision of Elijah at the Seder is a message of strong hope and belief
that the prophet Elijah would be sent to Israel at a crucial time to
prevent a curse from coming to the land. The prophet Malachi states,
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the
great and dreadful day of the Lord; And he shall turn the hearts of the
fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers,
lest I come and smite the earth with a curse (Malachi 4:5-6). May the
picture of Elijah entering the open door remind you that God will
provide for Israel, as He has always done before.
Scripture also states that without a vision, the people perish. The
enemies of Israel are bombarded with pictorial visions of their goal to
conquer Israel and annihilate the Jewish people, whereas Israel has
no picture of hope to put before its eyes. It was my personal
instruction to provide such a vision of hope that is embodied in this
painting of Elijah returning at the time of Passover. Though Elijah’s
return has been long in coming, may this painting bring hope and faith
to all who see it at this dark hour, when great threats loom over the whole land of Israel.
